Ang Lee made it again!!! After Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, this is an another Oscar masterpice from him i must say. Great
job from the Chinese director.
You dont have to be "queer" para maappreciate mo itong controversial film. In fact the 2 strong characters like Ennis del Mar
(Heath Ledger) & Jack Twist (Jake Gylenhaal) proved in this film that they ain't that queer actually. The word "gay" wasnt
used in the movie. The two cowboys were just in loved in a wrong place & time or maybe i should say "in loved in a tempting
place and erogenous time". They wished to quit the affair but they just couldn't do it. That's TRUE LOVE.
The adapted screenplay was perfect & dainty. It was so deep & melancholy.
The musical score was so nostalgic. You can feel that the guitar was lamenting. So perfect for the scenes.
I love the shots from beginning til end. Every frame is like a painting. Spectacular cinematography. The mountain is so refreshing and the river is so pristine. Parang gusto mo talagang lumipad ngayon din sa Wyoming to see the place.
Unfortunately the whole picture was filmed in Alberta, Canada.
I must say that the first love scene of Ennis & Jack was done in a decent way by Ang Lee. It was subtle but intense. Their
kissing scenes
are unforgettable. You can actually feel the passionate hungry snog by the two cowboys. Closet queers kissinglike that was a bit shocking. Honestly, the first kiss in the mountain was so heartrending that I cried. The second snogging scene in Ennis' home was the best. It was so amazing that you wouldn't notice that your tears are flowing slowly. It was a poignant scene.
I think the naked cowboy adventures were marvelous. Two beefcakes swimming in an immaculate river was a stylish shot.
I adored Ang Lee for being fair. He made sure heterosexuals will enjoy the movie too by exposing the clandestine pulchritude of Anne Hathaway and Michelle Williams. It was necessary though in the story.
Heath Ledger was good in his cowboy accent.That last scene oh my God just watch out for that. Prepare your hanky.
Michelle Williams is deserving with her nomination as Supporting Actress. See her reaction on her discovery about Ennis & Jack.
Anne Hathaway matured so much here. Our Princess Mia in The Princess Diaries is now a beautiful woman. You will love her more.
Jake Gyllenhaal was quiet good. I was surprised he was nominated.
Please watch this breakthrough film.
Bring your hanky coz Ennis del Mar will stab your heart. Be ready to cry.
I hope this film will rake the Oscar golden statuettes.
