SURVIVOR & PIRATES

PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN: AT WORLD'S END

remember when Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl was shown, the reality show created by Mark Burnett called Survivor: Pearl Islands was on boob tubes a month later. They had the same “piracy” theme” and both were big hits. Then just last year when we saw the blockbuster Dead Man’s Chest, Survivor: Cook Islands was being shoot and of course those islands were discovered by a British Navigator named James Cook. This year, another reality show will premiere after “At World’s End. It’s “Pirate Master” also from Mark Burnett. Isn’t it a coincidence? Savvy?

As a huge follower of the film, I enjoyed watching the 3rd film.
As an admirer of the Pirates film, I think this is the biggest in terms of the fight scenes, explosions, stunning visual effects, amazing sound & musical score, great costumes & make-up, immaculate production design and cinematography. Well, I agree that the story is not that good. Who cares? I watched this for the gay & fey Jack Sparrow. I watched this coz I want to know what’s next on the love story of Elizabeth & Will. Whew! I love their honeymoon scene coz I saw a pulchritudinous close-up of Keira on that sunset shot.

I watched this coz I am so proud that there’s a Filipino actor named Reggie Lee who had numerous lines. He ain’t just an extra you know. I watched this coz there’s more to be told and to be seen after Dead Man’s Chest.

Who said this is a “terrible film”? C’mon you must be jokin’ right? Savvy? Aye!
I think they will win again for Best in Visual Effects next year in the Oscars. Grandiose optical illusions I must say! Another nod for Best in Sound Editing too. Hopefully acting nominations for Mr. Depp again. Kudos to all the actors!

By the way, don’t abscond during the end credits. Wait ‘til the last acknowledgment and you will see a surprise scene. It was a feel good picture that happened after a decade when we saw Sparrow & Barbossa planning their next enigmatic adventure.

SOME GUFFAWS & STILL SIDE-SPLITTING

Ok this ain’t the best Shrek of the three coz I think the first is still the best. The second film offered us a lot of hilarious spoofs but here in the 3rd the Shrek formula is still there and I just rolled with laughter to some parts. I just find this so highly-amusing.
Shrek is not funny this time. He is so serious & troubled. He ain’t humorous without Donkey. I still love Eddie Murphy’s voice. Amazing voice talent!. Puss N’Boots is still cute. Fiona is still Fiona.

Expect to see the lovely ladies from the fairytale land! I think Snow White rules!!!! Ha ha ha I love her! That one scene from her made my day! I think they were making a parody of the classic Snow White from Disney.

SHREK THE THIRD

I was surprised that Justin Timberlake did a splendid job. His voice fits to his character as Arthur the next King of Far Far Away. They are bringin’ the sexy back!

What I also love is the soundtrack. The songs they were playing throughout the film kinda remind me of first Shrek. The songs are really perfect to every scene. For me the best part is the “funeral”. I was laughing my butt off on that scene. We are supposed to cry when there’s a interment scene right? I don’t know but please forgive me coz it was a really good cackle! Watch out for that! Live and let die!!!! Ha ha ha!!!

Hats off again to Dreamworks Animation on their remarkable CGI!Even though Andrew Adamson is not the director this time the film is still “Shreky”.Is it the right term?
Well, I guarantee that the kids will love this third Shrek. They will love those Donkey-Dragon babies as well as the cute baby Ogre!!!! I wanna have the stuffed toys now!

Thanks to Solar Entertainment for the sneak preview. Again we are so ahead!!!!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

ROCKSTAR: BODACIOUS SPIDEY

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

This is the best Spiderman of all!!!

I don’t wanna spoil the whole screenplay but I guarantee that the troika who prepared it did an amazing job. Hats off to Sam Raimi, Ivan Raimi & Alvin Sargent!!! Gutsy screenplay by adding more drama! I love it. Of course, Sam Raimi did it again as a director!!! Totally noteworthy!

Why Rockstar? Oh my God! I watched it in Megamall on its 1st screening 9:40am
and cinema10 was almost full. After watching black Peter in his comic scenes,
the whole audience were applauding. His style/make up was definitely a rock star supernova! I love him!

Kudos to the visual effects!
Expect a lot!!!!
Hold on to your seats!
I can smell another Oscar trophy again.

I must say that they have the best villains here especially Sandman.
Thomas Haden Church did a great performance.
Topher Grace is simply handsome but Venom is really scary!
James Franco? I had goose bumps watching him being so bad.
Nice job James!

By the way, don’t forget your hanky.
You’ll need it.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

NOTE: P58.6M box-office gross in just one day here in the Philippines..

Last May4 when it opened in North America, the one day box office gross was $59M.
The film is now the record holder!

It even beat the 3-day weekend gross of Pirates 2. It earned $148M in just 3 days in the US.
