RAT- TERRIFIC LITTLE CHEF !

RATATOUILLE

Delectable, scrumptious & delightful. The best way to describe this filmfrom Disney/Pixar but refrigerate immediately coz this mouth-watering film may be spoiled.

I’m afraid that this film may not appeal to kids. “Maybe to some kids”. The writers/directors here I think didn’t intend to tickle their innocent imagination. Kids may find this a bit boring I guess. I was expecting for more hilarious scenes from our protagonist named Remy, “a magnificent rat living in Paris who wants to be a chef. Unfortunately, there were only handful to laugh but the scenes in the kitchen totally blew my mind. It was amazing how Pixar did the animation. The detailed CGI illusion is really remarkable. If you were impressed when you were watching The Incredibles, then expect to be amazed more. Brad Bird is a genius director.

It was inspirational to watch a rodent pest being feared in the kitchen and here he was craving to be the best cook in Paris. I love the way Remy & Linguini the garbage boy doing their dish in the kitchen. It’s just like watching Rachel Ray and suddenly you wish “ Haaay…I wish I could cook too!” Well, the rat can cook so “Anyone Can Cook”.

The story is really clever. I think Pixar has a room filled with extraordinary heart-wrenching stories to animate. They always surprise us honestly.

The voice "acting" of the characters was excellent. I was really anticipating to watch this coz I read that this film received positive reviews from the US critics and there is a strong word-of-mouth too. I wasn’t disappointed that I didn’t chuckle that much. I wasn’t also upset that I didn’t shed tears. I even prepared my hanky just in case coz all the past Pixar films really made me cry. I don’t know how to describe my feelings after I left the cinema. Ambivalent I guess.

Anyway, this is a strong contender for Best Animated Film next year. I think Ratatouille will win the statuette.

WARNING: STAY AWAY IF YOU HAVE “MUROPHOBIA”!

PRISTINE MAGIC

HARRY POTTER & THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX

Perfectus phoenixus!!!!

Yeah, I know it’s a silly spell. I just can’t stop praising this film from David Yates. He is indeed a great director but Alfonso Cuaron’s Prisoner of Azkaban is still the best for me .Nevertheless, after watching OoTP, I love Yates masterpiece too.

I must say that the screenplay of Michael Goldenberg is remarkable. Of course, being a fan of the book I should understand that it’s really hard to put all the details of the book into a 2 hour & 18min film. Take note that this is just a film adaptation. I’m pretty sure JK Rowling also gave a nod to Goldenberg on the script. So I am not complaining if there are parts from the book which were neglected in the film. I am not a purist.

Daniel & Emma!!! They are definitely attached to their characters now. Great job from the magical duo! I’m so relieved that the 2 already signed to finish the last two films as well. Dan really showed his best performance so far. His nightmares gave me goose bumps. Emma is an amazing actress. For Ron, I don’t know but I just can’t feel his character this time maybe I hate the actor. I didn’t like Harry’s kissing scene either. It was awful.

I love Evanna Lynch as Luna Lovegood . She’s so cute and really out of this world. She is indeed the perfect choice to play this role. Her voice is really dreamy. Luna Luna Luna I love her.

Hats off to the pristine visual effects!!!!!

Hats off to the amazing sound and musical score!!!!

Hats off to the magnificent cinematography!!!

Hats off to the stunning production design!!!!

Hats off to the eye-catching Thestrals!!!

Hats off to Imelda Staunton as Dolores Umbridge!!!

Hats off to Maggie Smith, Emma Thompson & Helena Bonham Carter!!!! Splendid cameo!

I’ve been waiting for this film and the wait is finally over.Truly a dark film this time. So mature.
Accio Oscar Statuettes!!!!!! I wish.

DID YOU SEE THAT???

DIE HARD 4.0 (LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD)

In the 22 June 2007 issue of Entertainment Weekly, Die Hard 1 was named the number one best action movie of all time. So I became enthusiastic about it coz I've never seen the 3 Die Hard films. I had my Die Hard DVD Marathon last week to prep me for this 4th installment. Yeah, they were right! Die Hard 1 was a blast! The best of the 3.The 2nd was also awesome and the 3rd was almost stupid but still cool. Wait! They might change the list now. For me Die Hard 4.0 (Live Free or Die Hard) surpassed all my expectations for an action movie. This film is stupendous!!!
Did you see that? John McClane is really back in action! I love Bruce Willis. He's not getting older. He's still our man. Whew! I just missed that "almost nuts-talkin'to himself John McClane". I only saw a glimpse of that haywire but cool McLane. He is really serious this time. Of course John gotta be serious. America was under attack!!!!
I won't spoil the details of the attack coz it's really disturbing. Fine. Only 2 words for you. "Virtual Terrorists". That's it. See it for yourselves how ghastly these guys are!
Affected yata ako?

Did you see that? I really love the fight scenes between McClane and Mai (Maggie Q).
Indeed, I saw a bit of Filipino Martial Arts there from that nine lives "catwoman". Wow!!! I even wanted kill her myself and use an arnis.. Die Hard indeed. Watch out for that you will love her or maybe hate her.
Did you see that? The supporting actors are amazing especially Justin Long as Matt Farrell the Hacker. I was also glad that Mary Elizabeth Winstead is also here to spice up the screen. Remember her from Sky High & Final Destination 3? The most surprising character for me is Warlock. Oh God I was flabbergasted coz Silent Bob finally became loquacious on screen. Yeah, Kevin Smith is here.By the way, the villains were excellent too.

Did you see that? Why I keep on saying this line? Well, I heard this twice from Matt. I think it was cool. He delivered it so smooth. I just can't forget it. It's like after watching this film I just really wanna ask the people from the cinema: Did you see that?

What to see here anyway?
I want you to watch out for the breathtaking direction of Len Wiseman. He is the auteur of Kate Beckinsale's Underworld films. Yeah, he is Kate's hubby by the way.
Well, just expect a superb high-octane action film destined to be a summer blockbuster.
John McClane is really back to save the day. You gotta love the man!
