THE “MOULIN ROUGE” IN ANTARCTICA

HAPPY FEET

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Chill my man!!! It’s so cool amigo !!!!

Whoa!!! The best animated film of 2006 for me !
I’ve seen Ice Age 2: The Meltdown, The Wild, Over The Hedge, Cars, Monster House, Open Season but I yet have to watch Barnyard coz I missed it and Flushed Away is coming soon. I think those animations from big studios are vying for Oscar nomination. My top 3? Cars , Monster House and Happy Feet. Who will win??? Hands down or I must say feet up for Warner Brothers’ HAPPY FEET!!!

What’s great about Happy Feet is the story. It’s a story about a young penguin called Mumble voiced by Elijah Wood who doesn’t have a heartsong which is necessary to all penguins in their tribe in order to find someone’s love. All he has is his powerful and weird tap dancing. The rest of the story ??? Just watch the film and find your heartsong.

The animation is dazzling. It’s better than Pixar or Dreamworks. You must spend your dough on this at the big screen for the detailed and realistic looking CGI. Highly recommended scenes are of course (skip this if you still want some excitement it may spoil you) the singing and dancing penguins, the leopard seal attack, the winter storm, the elephant seals, the killer whales, and the graduation fish party. You’ll love those scenes.

George Miller, whoPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket co-wrote, produced and directed Happy Feet brings the same ingenuity, energy, and sacred style to this animated feature as he did to Babe. He has incorporated so many artistic elements into the story that it conjures me. There is the electrifying music, which includes pop, funk, opera, hip hop, R&B, rock, gospel, and Latin. I guarantee if you loved the Moulin Rouge, American Idol or even Grammy Awards performances then you must watch this!!! You will sing and dance with the penguins!!! I didn’t know that tap dancing is such a good thing to do. By the way Gloria rocks!!!!!!! (voiced by Brittany Murphy ) The song she sang is still in my head… somebody to love……… Hats off too to the magnificent and hilarious Robin Williams as Ramon and Lovelace , the captivating voice by Nicole Kidman as Norma Jean, Mumble’s mom and the Elvis-acting dad Memphis voiced by Hugh Jackman. Clever cast ensemble.

Of course prepare your hanky coz you might shed a tear. Honestly I did. I couldn’t explain why maybe because I was attached so much to Mumble’s character.

There’s an inspiring message too in this film. Watch out for that.

Bring your kids or the whole family. Watch it with your barkada. Watch it with your bf/gf.
Highly recommended you will love this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WARNING : YOU MAY TAP DANCE WHILE WATCHING THE FILM !!!

ABRACADABRA: EXPOSED

THE PRESTIGE

I think David Copperfield hates this film. It’s an expose to magic tricks but it was visually stunning. Christopher Nolan brought dark magic into the screen and it was amazing. The trailer was promising and I was really agog to watch this. Just don’t expect a lot of magic tricks. They only focused to only 1 trick and that’s where the illusion begins.

I was surprised coz they started with the pre-ending. That was absurd they already gave the ending? I was wrong coz it was just one element of the multiple twists/turns in the film but they were all predictable unfortunately. I wasn’t flabbergasted at all when they were revealed them. I already knew it from the start. The screenplay and editing didn’t do magic at all. There was no conundrum to solve.

I just adore the special effects, art direction, costumes and cinematography.

I love the thick accents of Christian Bale and Michael Caine. Hugh Jackman is still Volverine for me. He was ok though. Scarlett Johansson was the jinx. She is not a box-office drawer. Remember The Island and Black Dahlia? All flopped in the US Box Office. Even though The Prestige was #1 on its 1st week but the figure was too weak. I just hope there will a “good word-of-mouth” about it.

I believe there was a same theme movie called “The Illusionist” and it was critically acclaimed. It was released months ago in the US. Now I’m excited to see it and compare which is better.
All in all "The Prestige" was pure entertainment. You will like it anyway.

JUETENG & THE MAZE

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I love it. Ganda. Tapos yong lines niya about lucky Jueteng possible number result. So hilarious.

Kubrador is world-class.

STUPENDOUS FOGGY COMEDY

AMERICAN DREAMZ

I love the style of this dark comedy from Director Paul Weitz of American Pie and About a Boy. This film is not intended for all. This ain't your average popcorn flick too. So beware if you're not exploratory.
It's like a parody to the George Bush administration, Osama Bin Laden with his terrorists and the show American Idol. Ha ha ha! So uncanny! Remarkable screenplay.
I like the nincompoop acting of Dennis Quaid as US Pres. Staton. I enjoyed the Simon Cowell impersonation of Hugh Grant. He was so mean and so perfectionist as well but I think the "pitchy" Randy Jackson and "oh I adore you" Paula Abdul was squeezed in somewhere along the way. I was surprised to Willem Dafoe's acting too as the Chief of Staff. He was amazing! Lastly, Mandy Moore brought the house down. She's so bitchy but charming.
I love to dream the "impossible dream". It's "my way.
Watch out for that.

Recommended only for brave movie buffs. You may rent the video.

THE CONUNDRUM OF TIME & LOVE

THE LAKE HOUSE

Time is so powerful.Love moves in mysterious ways. She's in 2006. He's in 2004.Fantasy-Love-DramaThat's the story of The Lake House.

I love it. The movie made me think over & over again. The first time I watched it I was a bit punchy. I didn't get it immediately. So I watched it again and realized that this is better than Frequency & Moments of Love. The fast-paced last 20 minutes climax was just fantastic.

Sandra & Keanu are so natural and perfect.Director Agresti is superb. The screenplay & editing blended so well. So magical! The soundtrack is comparable to Serendipity maybe because Nick Drake's soulful guitar is also here. Listen carefully.

By the way did u notice the Indian actress Shohreh Aghdashloo? I think I always see her being cast as a doctor. Late last year she was in Exorcism of Emily Rose. She was a supernatural doctor. Then, in X-Men 3 she was a mutant doctor. Here in Lake House she's also a hospital doctor. Huh? I don't like her manly accent honestly. I hope she's not also a doctor in the upcoming film American Dreamz. I'm sick & tired of her already.

Well, I disagree to everybody saying this is a chick flick. No way! Hopeless romantic guys will love this too.

Highly recommended.

AIN’T UNWIELDY, AIN’T PLODDING, AIN’T GRIM

THE DA VINCI CODE

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Well, taste nila yon.

He nailed it down. Ok din si Paul Betanny as the albino monk Silas.

Last May 16 when I heard na

Seek the truth. The grail is in your heart.

FISHY TEEN CHICK FLICK

AQUAMARINE

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I decided to watch this flick because of Jojo. I love her. I was expecting to hear her song being played in the movie. What? No Jojo song in the soundtrack?
Weird! Instead Emma Roberts & Sara Paxton have one song each in the OST.

Set aside the OST. Let's talk about this chick flick. It's cute honestly. Just cute. Pa-tweetums. Aquamarine the mermaid is just so kikay!

This is a very low budgeted flick. They couldn't even afford to make Jojo beautiful. Some of her breakouts are even palpable. They should have done something like what they did to her in most of her music videos. Aquamarine (Sara Paxton)is not really that charming. Emma Roberts for me is the most beautiful even without the make-up.

Well, if you want to experience teen kilig then I am recommending this to you.
