SOME TERRIFIC, RADIANT & HUMBLE PIG

CHARLOTTE'S WEB

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

This classic adaptation from E.B. White's beloved novel is definitely one treasure I must keep.I love Dakota Fanning so much with her passionate acting as Fern. She's perfect for the role.Of course, Julia Robert's voice as Charlotte the spider is remarkable. I like Steve Buscemi's voice too as Templeton the rat.

I must not forget the cute voice of Dominic Scott Kay as Wilbur the Pig. Great voice talent ensemble.

I must say congrats to the beautiful screenplay written by Susannah Grant and Karey Kirkpatrick. I remember Susannah being nominated for the script of Erin Brockovich & her brilliant adaptation of a Cinderella film " Ever After". I love the script
coz I cried a lot. I shed tears everytime people are eager to see the miraculous web by Charlotte.I don't know but it's an ordinary miracle. Maybe because the music is uplifting and mellifluous too. Who composed the score?

Well, it's Danny Elfman who did Spiderman 1 & 2, Big Fish, Hulk, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride & Desperate Housewives theme. His music is amazing. I'm wondering why he was snubbed by the academy.

I also adore the puppy love romance with Fern and her classmate. It's cute just like "Little Manhattan".

The movie is funny in some parts. I was laughing to the scarecrow scenes with the crows of course. It was hilarious.

The unique thing about this film is that I became a child again. It opens with a soulful narration. The opening sequence showed some pages from the book's illustrations. It's like listening to a children's book too while someone's reading it. It was terriffic.

.....When you wake up everyday
Please don’t throw your dreams away
Hold them close to your heart
Cause we are all a part
Of the ordinary miracle
Those are some of the lines from the themesong "Ordinary Miracle" by Sarah McLachlan. It's haunting.

If you want some
heartwarming family film. Swing, stick, loop & spin with Charlotte's web!

SAVAGELY BRUTAL BUT BEAUTIFUL

APOCALYPTO

Another masterpiece from the passionate auteur Mel Gibson!

I remember crying and begging to stop the flagellation of Jesus when I was watching The Passion of the Christ. That film from Gibson kinda changed my life. I was moved so much.

Here in Apocalypto, well it was an awakening of something hidden in the past.
Though when I researched the history of the ancient Mayan civilization I found some loopholes here but I won’t spoil it for you coz this film was produced for entertainment and not for documentation.

A-adrenaline (check your blood pressure)
P- palpitation ( check your heart)
O- oh my God!!! Oh no !
C- creativity from Gibson and spectacular cinematography
A- amazing amazing amazing
L- Lord of Violence and Gory
Y- yucks ( if you hate and wanna puke if you see blood all over)
P - Perfect execution from the cast esp. Jaguar Paw
T – Tremendous sound effects and make-up
O- Oh man! You gotta watch this!!!

To sum it up this film is not for the weak heart.

Award-winning masterpiece but completely robbed and snubbed by the Academy!
Highly recommended!

Brokeback Suburbia

LITTLE CHILDREN

This is not an award winning gay film again but I can compare this to Brokeback Mountain coz of its murky theme. This is a controversial novel adaptation. The film has been rated 'R-18' for strong sexuality and nudity, language and some disturbing content. Just like Brokeback the film wasn’t shown in SM cinemas. It’s also like watching Desperate Housewives but more dark and serious this time. Little Children takes place in an upper-middle class suburb of Boston in the middle of a hot summer. It’s like watching Monster’s Ball, Capote, The Woodsman, Monster and previous Kate Winslet’s films like Holy Smoke & Hideous Kinky. You will have this odd sentiment after watching the film. You won’t go out and say “oh I enjoyed it.. so much fun!… feel good one! No not one of those but the film disturbed me and made me think. The ending was ambiguous but I can figure it out.
Kudos to the amazing adapted screenplay! I love it.
I hope Kate Winslet will surprise the Academy Awards. She is the youngest actress with the most nominations on acting category. She has 5 right now.I agree on the nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role by Jackie Earle Haley. His character is disturbing.Well, I’m recommending this to all adventurous movie buffs and if you’re monitoring the nominated films in the Oscars you must include Little Children.

IT’S SHAKESPEARE’S CODE THIS TIME !

ARTHUR & THE INVISIBLES

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Since I love CGI animation so much I really wanted to watch this new film by Luc Besson.Of course, Freddie Highmore is here and I like this kid from Finding Neverland, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory & A Good Year.

Luc Besson didn’t have any history of directing an animation so it was just ok.This is part-animated, part-live action feature film adaptation of the same-name. Kids can take it.. Actually the title of the film is ARTHUR AND THE MINIMOYS to some territories. I was amazed with the story coz there were conundrums comparable to THE DA VINCI CODE but done in a kiddie style and Shakespeare was involved too. It was amusing even if it was a rip-off.

The animation is almost equivalent to THE ANT BULLY. The borrowed some ideas there I think. The voice talents? I only love Freddie and David Bowie. Madonna and Robert de Niro hmmm… just fine. I love the musical score honestly.

I didn’t love the whole film but I like the conundrum adventure of Arthur to the land of the Minimoys.

It was just ok. Popcorn animated flick.

RUN OF THE MILL

NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM

I don’t know but there’s nothing to brag about this flick.

The visual effects are not that amazing. Just ordinary.Only kids will love it.Come to think that this film was produced by the people who brought us Harry Potter.

The screenplay was written for kids age 4-11.I didn’t laugh at their jokes. It’s so predictable. They tried to squeeze in some drama lines but it didn’t work out.

Ben Stiller and Robin Williams? Ok they’re awesome.Honestly, I’m really sick & tired of watching the tandem of Owen Wilson & Ben Stiller.

The movie is intended for kids’ entertainment. So bring the whole family.Chill & waste time.

AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love this hospital drama!!! Actually this is a dramedy but most of the time they focus mostly on tear jerky moments.

The season 1 is really good. It was their introduction and I love how the characters are growing on me.

I love Ellen Pompeo as Meredith Grey.
But I am deeply attached to the character being played by Katherine Heigl. For me Izzie
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
is my favorite in the cast. I love her in the 2nd season coz it was her season. The way she fought her love…haayyy… I really cried.
Alex too is very hot. How bout McDreamy??? Hmmm… I’d rather have McSteamy.

I love the episode where there was a train wreck. It was so hard watching those two victims with a pole stabbed together in their two bodies. Then the episode where Christina Ricci played a medic..oh my God it was so intense. Of course who could forget the Denny-Izzie love affair.

Cristina Yang? I like her too. Sandra Oh won as Best Supporting Actress in the Golden Globe.
I adore the Nazi too. He he he… Kudos to Dr. Bailey!!!!

I love watching this series.
Im so glad that I have a bootleg collection of the series. He he he….
I have no volition I don’t have time to watch TV.

THE AMAZING JOURNEY

THE NATIVITY STORY
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
After watching Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ” medyo nagbago ako ng konti. Inaamin ko marami akong sins kaya naging mabait ako dahil sa film na iyon. This one “The Nativity Story”… wow… same reaction. I think I’m goin to the church again.

It’s a masterpiece.

Hats off the youngest ever nominated actress from New Zealand, Keisha Castle Hughes of Whale Rider. Pinaiyak niya ako kasi she’s the serious and innocent Mary I’ve ever seen. Parang sanay na tayo na meztiza at super beautiful ang gumaganap na Mary but Keisha is different and I love her for that. Oscar Isaac who portrayed Joseph…. napaka-promising niyang character actor. I don’t know pero sumasakit throat ko dahil naiipon ang sakit ng dibdib ko at siguro tuloy din tears ko when I was watching the journey of Joseph & Mary to Bethlehem. They did so well in their parts. Convincing talaga especially the Bethlehem Labor Night. Watch out for that.

The female auteur Catherine Hardwicke who also did Thirteen & Lords of the Dogtown is remarkable. Na-justify niya ang essence ng Nativity. For me best elements din ng film ay ang cinematography at production design. Well, the auteur was a former production designer kaya maganda ang results.

I heard nag-premiere ito sa Vatican at well-applauded. I heard marami ring pinaiyak.

Trivia ko lang: Mary conceived & carried baby Jesus in her womb at the age of 16 according to the film. Did you know that Keisha Castle-Hughes who played Mary is pregnant in real life? She’s also 16 but unmarried. She didn’t conceive the baby though. She is pregnant and is now expecting a child in 2007 with her boyfriend of 3 years
