Wanna hear a bedtime story?
There was a hunk named Jishcand and he shared his whole life with his invisible friend named Tennister. They lived in a house made of glitters from the fairies' cocoon. Every night when the wind blows chilly scent in the dark, they always play their sturdy swords until the sun shines. Jishcand was the only person who can see Tennister. One night when they went skinny dipping in a lagoon which is located near to the falls of Jendak, a white fox with silver eyes saw Tennister's reflection in the water and suddenly bit his hand. The gist of the bite made him panoptic but the fox suddenly transformed into a body of a naked man who looks like a dead ringer for Jishcand but he was unconscious on the soft ground. There was a moment of hush and the man was lifted up in the air. A light so effulgent engulfed his mesomorphic body then disappeared into the tenebrific forest . Jishcand and Tennister hugged the night away for that was the perfect time to play luksong tinik under a moonlight. Then the fairies came out and they rained the place with confetti made from phallic-shaped flowers. STOP IT Jishcand! That doesn't sound like a bedtime story for the kids! They are reading your blogs. Really? Ok let me tell you a film called Bedtime Stories and it's from Walt Disney. It stars this superstar who had an all-out gross comedy last year and we just couldn't mess with him. Surprisingly, this man can magically toned down his erogenous genes. “Bedtime Stories” may be a soporific hit to a non-fan but for a follower in a coon's age this movie is just engaging.
Skeeter Bronson was born into his father's hotel business, Skeeter believes a long forgotten promise will upgrade him from all-around maintenance guy to General Manager for the high-rise Nottingham Hotel in Los Angeles. Skeeter's sister Wendy confides him with babysitting duties for two children Bobbi and Patrick that he shares with Jill, their school teacher . The first night, Skeeter tells a bedtime story taking place in medieval times, with some add-ons from the kids and it comes true the next day. The trick is that only ideas generated by the kids will actually take place. Then the bedtime storytelling continues, even if Skeeter's life is at stake.
Finally, a Disney project for Sandler. The premise is actually piquant. I enjoyed it because it reminds me of my puerility days. I used to tell stories when I was just a little boy and even hoped for them to become real the next day. “Bedtime Stories” has a target audience. Apparently, the kids will love this. Unfortunately, the script will let down some adults especially non-Sandler fans. Few gags sound a bit cheesy and the forced love story is really not that imploring. There are a couple of moments to cackle but some scenes outside the bedtime stories are humdrum. I may be cockamamie for loving the actual bedtime stories here. Being a kid-at-heart , the crazy imaginations in this movie is still magical to me.
Adam Sandler is Adam Sandler! Deal with it. This is his acting when it comes to mediocre films. Get used to it. I'm a fan and I wanna say sorry if you don't like him here. I was anticipating to have effusion in my eyes coz this is a family movie but not even a drop dripped. The last time that I really bawled over a Sandler's movie was Click. It's really nice to see that the supporting actors almost stole the spotlight from Sandler . Guy Pearce is quiet effective as a villain and Russell Brand shows some promises that he could be the next big thing in comedy. Unfortunately, if you're a Keri Russel and Courtney Cox fan, their characters are way too bland.
Bedtime Stories is enchanting in some ways. The movie is innocuous honestly. Kids will enjoy and definitely will watch it again. I'm still recommending this Disney film if you're a still “kid” just like me. So do you still wanna know what happened to Jishcand and Tennister? Nah... I will tell you the details when the sequel reaches our shores soon. Not that I'm hoping.
The Wings - Jishcand & MJ
