TIME FOR MIRACLES & BILLIONS

2012 is the year foreseen to be the end of the world according to the Mayan prophecy. The precise date for the apocalypse is December 21 ,2012. Scary huh? Can we prorogue it after Christmas instead? It is a disturbing prediction honestly and the master of devastation named Roland Emmerich decided to make a movie out of it. This man really loves to destroy the world using his wild imagination and his lens like in Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow . He's an earth advocate by the way. 2012 is one the anticipated blockbuster of 2009. It is also predicted to be one of the top grossing movie of 2009 or maybe of all time. According to its theatrical poster: We Were Warned”.However. I think the arrant headline for this movie should be: Warning: It is all in the trailer!
FILM PREMISE: When the guru turned scientist in India discovered the rapid increasing temperature of planet earth, government geologist Adrian Helmsley is informed about one of the greatest - and most terrifying - discoveries in the history of humanity. Recent solar flares have flooded the Earth with atomic particles known as neutrinos, and just as the Mayans foretold, the year 2012 will see these radioactive matters radically reconstitute the planet. The core will get extremely hot, the crust will melt, and the immense continental plates will switch and separate. It means the end of the world as we know it - earthquakes, floods, volcanoes, and other humongous natural calamities. Helmsley takes this information to the Chief of Staff Carl Anheuser, it is three more years before a rescue plan is put into action. Then we meet the important family in the whole wide world. Imagine that? 2012b I was really prepared to love this movie I was also anticipating to cry in this movie based on what I've heard on its theme song called “Time For Miracles”.The movie shows a lot of destruction and explosions and we've seen these clips in the trailers already. It is horribly frustrating that the clips available on their previews are the only good things I can be proud of. The movie has a running time of about 2 and a half hours but the first hour is a snooze fest. The first act simply shows all these loquacious arguments and silly confabulations about the upcoming apocalypse. It is an enduring experience for a popcorn movie flick like this. The movie kinda improves on its second act when it starts to show the outset of the devastation. Again, it is already available in the trailer. Then, there's a lot of nonsense talks to digest again. Afterwards, the movie tries to squeeze in another clips on volcanic eruptions then the story shifts to unfamiliar characters conversing something blah, then an earthquake follows and tsunami too. Then another blah blah blah. There is a forced family drama too which I really find so cheesy. As expected, Emmerich manages to generate a well-known biblical twist in the movie which is passably amazing but depressing. 2012 is not actually boring but it is not intensifying. There's no tremendous panic while watching the desolation. It's not totally mind blowing watching it on the big screen once again. The trailer is on YouTube for months now. 2012d Despite of the stupid lazy script, visually 2012 is really magnificent. Emmerich is a genius when it comes to awesome visual effects. The destructions are terribly realistic. But for me, these scenes about pandemonium are not that disturbing at all. Some of these chaos are really laughable specifically the great escape of the family in California. It is a head scratcher. It is an impeccable scene but it is quiet impossible. The destruction of California is probably the best here. Again, it is in the trailer already. I definitely agree they will get an award in this category. The sound is impressive honestly. I truly appreciate the apocalyptic theme of the music. The original score is really amazing. I really stayed during the end credits to listen and feel the magnetic voice of Adam Lambert as he sings the theme song I mentioned above. The song has a wonderful lyrics but after watching the movie it is somewhat confusing if it was really written for the movie.

2012c 2012e Since there are too many characters sprouting out of nowhere, it's hard to choose your favorite survivor here. John Cusack has the huge star billing and has a moment like what “Bruce Willis” did in Armageddon, so this is probably his movie. Well, he doesn't own this one. Cusack is just OK. His character is not that amiable enough. I think Chiwetel Ejiofor and Woody Harrelson somehow steal everything here from Cusack. Amanda Peet is practically boring. 2012a 2012 is not that horrible. It is just too long and lazy. 2012 has no uplifting story to tell. Some scenes are not really necessary. The movie is not trying to preach but there's a controversial lesson to be learned :”Be rich in 2012 in order to live and survive”. Isn't it disturbing enough? Emmerich promises only fantastic visual effects and big-budgeted production designs in this disaster flick. If you're okay with that then probably you may enjoy the spectacle. If you haven't seen the trailer then don't search for it. New York is spared this time surprisingly and the Philippines is not even mentioned. It's so unfair! I wanna see some destructive typhoons in our country. free glitter text and family website at FamilyLobby.com
